Diji Studio is a minority and woman owned architecture and interior design practice based in the New York City and Jersey City area, working on design projects of varying scale. We work closely with clients, consultants, and contractors to navigate approvals, coordinate complex requirements, and carry projects through construction with clarity. The studio is led by Ida Tam, a registered architect in NY and NJ with over 15 years of experience across design, documentation, and construction administration. Our approach is collaborative and hands-on, with an emphasis on thoughtful design, practical solutions, and well-executed spaces.

Our interest in adaptive reuse extends across academic research, writing, community outreach, and built work, with a focus on buildings shaped by history, complexity, and cultural memory.

We love when design carries broader public value. The studio supports neighborhood, nonprofit, and civic projects, and selectively takes on at-cost or pro bono work.

FOUNDING PRINCIPAL
IDA TAM
Ida is a registered architect with over 15 years of experience across Asia, the UK, and the US. She is a graduate of the University of Nottingham and Cornell University. Her notable projects include Perry World House for the University of Pennsylvania and 1014 Fifth Avenue / German Academy in New York City.
She began her career working on high-end residential homes, where she learned how to build with longevity in mind. Much of that knowledge came from time spent on site, working side by side with builders and working through details as they came up in the field. One of her early (and favorite) memories? — testing every window on a project for water penetration (and retesting them five times) before they all finally passed.
That hands-on experience continues to shape her approach: practical, detail-oriented, and grounded in how buildings actually get built.

EXPERIENCE
Experience across ground-up construction, renovations, and interior build-outs in residential and mixed-use contexts. Work includes DOB and LPC filings, zoning analysis, construction documentation, and owner’s representation.
